Thanks for your assistance, I appreciate it ! I have a pack of Danish cherry vanilla blend, maybe you have tried it??
Sorry but I have never heard of it. I don't smoke an aromatic unless there is a non smoker coming over. I have 2 aromatics in my cellar and those are Cult Blood Red Moon and Sutliff Molto Dolce.

The Molto is a riot. It snaps, crackles and pops just like Rice Crispies but it smokes fine and actually has some decent flavors. The non smokers love the smell.
You are welcome for the assistance.

Where are you based ?
Reason for asking is that ambient humidity can be a huge factor.

Humidity is often an issue in Sydney.
As I often don't plan my smoking ahead of time, there may not be sufficient drying time to get the tobacco to the ideal state of dryness.

I often use meerschaum chips or Nording Keystones at the bottom of the bowl to help reduce moisture and dottle.
Even then running a pipe cleaner mid-smoke may be necessary to get rid of gurgles
This ☝️ Where I live we have 1.5 metres of rain on average and drying tobacco is problematic and usually takes a lot longer than you think, Samuel Gawiths can take 24/36 hrs 🤣

The tamper really helped me to get 2 decent half bowl smokes. I got a lot of fume, the flat tobacco in the bowl lights very well when you have correct technique.
Congratulations. 👍

Like learning to ride a bicycle - you keep falling off.
Then one day you'll think "how easy is this !"
Your learning curve is about to take-off and become exponential 🚀

When I first got into pipe smoking in the 1970s, there was no internet.
Huge learning curve, as I had few mentors.
I don't think I ever got the hang of smoking a pipe properly.

Fast forward to a few years ago when I returned to pipe smoking - sites like this and TobaccoReviews are a godsend !
The members here are so generous with their advice and hints.

I am enjoying pipe smoking now. So much so my previously beloved cigars have been neglected.
