Hey, all. I was trying to light up the pipe all and over again without success. I guess the tobacco was too wet, eventually I discovered the condensate In my pipe won't let me smoke. I had to сlean up the moisture to make it light again. It was pretty weird lmao, I used a pack of matches for nothing.. Pipe is very delicate smoking piece

It's not delicate smoking device. It's lack of experience on the user's part. First, dry your tobacco. You'll see this again. Don't wait 5 min and say it's dry. Touch it, feel it, make love to it! If it's wet, dry more. Dry it till it no longer feels like prom queen's.. you know. Second, pack your pipe right. Third, keep pipe cleaner near you at all time. Even if tobacco feels dry, flakes will still pack moisture. You might need to run the cleaner. Lastly, if you drool, you will need cleaner more often.

Where are you based ?
Reason for asking is that ambient humidity can be a huge factor.

Humidity is often an issue in Sydney.
As I often don't plan my smoking ahead of time, there may not be sufficient drying time to get the tobacco to the ideal state of dryness.

I often use meerschaum chips or Nording Keystones at the bottom of the bowl to help reduce moisture and dottle.
Even then running a pipe cleaner mid-smoke may be necessary to get rid of gurgles

As others have said, dry your tobacco. Remember that even then, moisture is a natural by-product of the combusion of organic materials. A badly make pipe can cause the moisture to condense in the shank and mortise/junction. When that happens, run a pipe cleaner into the airway to soak up the liquids.

If you pack to loose you will get a hot shitty mess that has no flavor and will not stay lit.

You need to fid the perfect humidity for different blends. Some blends like many flakes smoke cooler and drier because of the cut. Many English blends to better at a dryer level in a wider bowl which lets the different components all work together.

There is no tobacco or pipe that has the perfect combination but there are a shit load that come damn close. Out side smoking has a huge affect, but since I don't smoke any here but inside, I don't have to deal with it.

Now I realize there are many people who think my system is full of shit but I could care less as I get great smokes all the time. Experiment, try different things, different packing methods, different blends with different pipes. There are a million combinations that will help you reach Nirvanas. Just remember to suck it up and when you burn the shit out of your mouth, don't get discouraged nothing great like the art of smoking comes easy. We all went through it and the guys who use Biotene and had a high pain tolerance made it through.

I get better smoke and taste smoking a small pocket pipe, bigger pipe gets harder to light up and harder to keep I light

Please put your location in your Profile, as people are forgetful.
Why: It will save time for others as to where you live when you mention local stores, weather, tobacco prices, availability, regulations, location of photos, wildfires, air quality, etc. In many instances that saves time for those who read your posts, and for you in not having to reply to inquiries. .
How:
Under your avatar, (top right, left most of three symbols) you choose "Account Details", which brings up "My Account". "My Location" is halfway down. Whatever you're comfortable with- town, city, county, state. province, etc.

I am currently smoking one of my biggest pipes a Brian Ruthenberg group 6-ODA.. I loaded it with Capstan Gold RR and it smoke perfectly as I made damn sure I packed it correctly. I made sure there was some resistance and if I feel it is going out I will either tamp or I will use the 2 fingers over the bowl technique. The size of your pipe should not make a difference if you do all the right things in the beginning . Check your draw before lighting, I had a bit of moisture so the pipe smokes cooler than a dry tobacco that burns hot and fast.

I pack it tightly, but I can't even light it up with a match sometimes. I put finger in the bowl and my finger felt wet

Might help to let your tobacco sit out overnight, I’ve had some pretty moist stuff that with my high humidity just wasn’t drying, i put it on a paper towel and let it dry over night and it was fine.

You will probably want to dry enough to smoke for a few days at one time so that when you want to smoke you’ll have some dry and you won’t have to wait. I’ve found that drying it more than you think you should is the way to go.

Not tight, not loose, not wet, not crumbly! You'll adjust as you go along, but definitely dry more, and load with a medium tightness.
