PA and CH suck. They do better in a cob, if hot air isnt on the menu. PA has a weird sauce and CH is more natural with hints of a sauce. Personally, Haunted Bookshop is like these two blends and 100000000000000 times better. I tried to like these tobaccos but C&D does the style much better. Long live Cornell &Diehl.

In all seriousness, if you're going after an OTC, go with Amphora (either red or brown). The tobacco is decent-quality, it won't bite easily, it doesn't leave much goop, and the flavor and room notes are pleasantly natural without any obvious and odious toppings. It was absent from US distribution for a while but AFAIK has been in continuous production, so it should still be available in the States after the FDA tobacco apocalypse.

PA has more of a cocoa taste, where as CH is more sweet to my tastes.
I concur. I taste the Virginias in CH, where PA tastes like Burley with some supporting actors.

Strongly second the motion on both PC's matching blends to CH and PA, which are Chatham Manor and Prince Andrew, available in pouches, so you can see how you like them, and in 14 once tubs, if you decide they're for you. These are blended by Russ O. and company, and seem to have fewer casings, toppings, etc., so give you a more tobacco forward experience. (I like the Walnut match, Chestnut, in the same series, but it is a non-aro.) The tubs sell for $26.99, so you save some money buying them instead of the long-time brands. However, better order soon, since I believe these are new since 2007.

All right , as to Amphora Red or Brown, let me tell you what ,I did foud that Red Amhora version was too comlex, and yet too fruity and cocoa flavored to my likings although many here in europe like em,still I'm planning to try that brown original version out and see how it turns out, hopefully not too chocolaty in flavor-profile

I just checked P&C and they have Chatham Manor & Prince Andrew in the pouches on backorder, which has been the case for a long time. I sent them an email many months ago and they said that the pouches would return in 2 weeks. Guess what, still no pouches. Maybe they quit selling all their Mid-Town Series in 2oz sample pouches. I wish they'd update their site.

Another burley OTC well worth considering if Amphora is not to your taste liking, is Lane Ltd Ready Rubbed, formerly Edgeworth Ready Rubbed (ERR). It has much more body and character than CH, smokes cool and dry and sweet but not overly sweet. Room note is pleasing to all but rabid ant-smokers. I'm sure it has a topping, nonetheless I can't put my finger on what it is, which for me is a good thing. It fits my definition of an aromatic, that is, it smells really nice. Bad news is, thus far it's only available in 14oz cans. Good news is, even if you find it so-so it makes a great mixer to tone down other aros you might try and find too over-the-top.

It doesn't taste like graham cracker to me. Some have said the taste is of mollasses, but having never eaten mollasses I wouldn't know. Prior to Lane's reintroduction, Sutliff made an ERR "match" which some say is a bit closer to the original than the Lane's. Lane claims theirs is the original formula, but the cut is certainly different. It had been decades since I smoked ERR so I don't really have an accurate frame of reference to compare. I just know LRR is a decent smoke for an OTC, something I can't say about the majority of them.
If the FDA rules go through as written, LRR will vanish along with all reintroduced blends that weren't on the market in 2007. Not sure when the Sutliff match began. So if you like it, stock up.

Hi ,so the situation with this new legislation may cause many American fellers to order online like many pipesmoker does here in Scandinavia-Northern europe due our high retail prices and lack of good selection of tobaccos, another concequance if this new bill' gets into effect is that many new introduced imported European brands such as German

Hans Widemanss HU tobaccos and that of Belgian Semoins-Manil tobaccos among many others brands may possibly dissapear from the US tobacconist shelves, aint that true?

Ps-when I was a kind and my late father was still alive and working at a merchant navy sailing to U.S and back he always brough tonns of Edgerworth and P Albert tobaccoes back home and supplied his smoking frieds alike, though, that was decades ago back in good old days when life and tobacco along with people were defferent to nowadays.Ok, so much for this, have a Great day Y'all

newbroom, I agree with you Half & Half, except I can never "get there" with it and no longer make the effort. I enjoy both Prince Albert and Carter Hall. Sir Walter too for that matter.

I like CH over PA because for me, it does not taste like cigarette tobacco. And...I like SWR to.

I hear you. I can't get by the current cherry topping in Half& Half now. It's so light most do not recognize it but it is no where like what my grandfather smoked.

My dad's buddy who was a pipesmoker used to say they called it H&H because it was half cow manure and half horse shit.

I smoke them both CH and PA. Neither is Nigthcap or Early Morning Pipe. They are kind of a no hassle easy smoke and they are not bad. Neither one ever bites!!
