Comoys 6-Pipe Christmas Pipe Set

I believe that I'm learning something here about Comoys Christmas pipes - they appear not to use the 3-pc, drilled, stem logo, no matter the year.
Check out this 1979 pipe, in unsmoked condition. It had a stamped C, despite being made at least two years before the merger. Has anyone seen a 81 or earlier Christmas pipe with a drilled logo?

Here's the set my Father previously owned. All pipes not smoked.

Very cool. Do you know why he didn't smoke them?
I still wonder why stamped C logos were used on the Christmas pipes versus the 3-piece drilled logo that was used in that era and now prized by collectors.

My Dad was so struck by the "beauty" of the collection that he couldn't bring himself to use them. I have them now and am looking to sell since I'm not a smoker. Any idea on a reasonable asking price? I'm not trying to gouge anyone on this collection.

Well smoked, the set in the OP went for $1,000. Unsmoked, it should bring $1500. You'd think $2k, but it's tough to sell a set like that for such a large sum. I'd recommend letting a well known ebay seller (coopersark, Treasurepipes, etc.) sell on consignment.
