It is always tough to refinish and not end up wiping out the nomenclature and stamping but it looks like it was saved. Love the stain work as well.

I put a little black tape over the stampings when I do any work around them, and I think the stem is on the right way in these pictures. My phone camera doesn't exactly like to focus on stampings and grain so this is as good as it gets. I ditched the cigar box backdrop because of focusing issues.

I also use a white background for similar reasons. One day I'll invest in a macro lens for my wife's DSLR, until them my Point & Shoot will have to do (I keep spending lens money on ....pipes)

Yes, it is gorgeous. May I ask what stain you used? On my first finish restoration, the briar is about the same color as shots 4 and 5, and I wouldn't mind achieving the color you have in the final. (Mines a bent bulldog "Strate Grain")

May I ask what stain you used? On my first finish restoration, with old finish (grime, really) gone, the briar is about the same color as shots 4 and 5, and I wouldn't mind achieving the color you have in the final. (Mines a Bertram bent bulldog "Strate Grain")
Sorry for the near duplicate, but wanted to add a couple of specifics, lost the time frame in which to edit.
