This is another one of ashdiggers Comoy's acquisition. The bowl and stem needed some help, but it should smoke great.
Thanks to Sam for sticking with me on the shape number - it is indeed a shape 30D. Once he confirmed that, I did find this shape 30 on a Comoy's chart, in the Liverpool shape group.

I have a very similar looking Grand Slam. I'll have to check the shape#. I think that may be a 'B' not a 'D' but still can't find much info. 50 isn't even on the pipedia shape chart.

I have seen a B after the number before on Comoy's but never a D. Still have no idea what it means though.

Hey Al, I just checked my Grand Slam. It is the exact same shape, the number is actually 30B. The 3 can look like a 5 but if you magnify it I think you will see it is a 3. Listed on the Comoy shape chart as a liverpool. Maybe later I'll take some photos so you can see mine.

Thanks sam! I did find two, shape 30 pipes (no D or B) that SmokingPipes sold in the past:

Liverpool

Ding-Ding-Ding, I think we have a winner. I did find the shape 30 on a Comoy's chart.

I'll update the blog and this info later. Pretty wild, that 3 was only number on that pipe that I was certain was a 5.
Thanks Sam!

I received the pipe today and upon close examination it's a 30B. Al had asked me to double check. I'll smoke it either tonight or tomorrow, but it's a great looking pipe.

Here's some pics of that pipe's brother, with a close-up of the shape number. That odd 3 can look like a 5 if it isn't sharp. This pipe has me hunting Grand Slam's with the stingers intact. It smokes great and these old Comoy stems are fantastic, the buttons are excellent.

Could you share a picture of the hardware in your pipe?
I have always wondered about the 'B' suffix. I have 32B Comoy's Deluxe that doesn't stand out as different from my other early Comoy pipes.

The end of the stinger. I only put it back in for these pictures. I don't use them on the Comoy's, but I do use them on my Kaywoodies. It's interesting to see the differences in stinger design.

Very cool, I didn't know you had saved the stinger.
If I had to swear by any letter of that nomenclature, I'd have chosen only the 5 as the sure but.(but of course it cant' be). Looking at this pictures, it still looks like a 5 to me!
