Comoy’s Special Question

Question for the resident experts on Comoy’s. I have this little Comoy’s Special with amazing 360 degree straight grain. It’s markings tell me it’s older but it does not appear to be a 3 part “C” on the metal reinforced stem. However, stem appears to be original. What is a “Special”? Is this an older Comoy’s or newer? Most info I can find online is mixed.

It’s absolutely a 3 part stem. Can’t date this one really. 1940s to 80. It’s pre Codogen period. I may have spelled that wrong.

At a quick glance it looks that way to me also. BTW, you meant Cadogan.

Agreed, sometimes the oxidation covers up the drilled pieces. But I can't say I've seen a "Special" finish Comoy's before. (Special Straight Grain, yes)

A really close look confirms -- definitely pre-Cadogan. Hard to make out, but assuredly a 3-piece C.
