Here
I've been smoking Skiff and enjoying it quite a bit. I just jarred up a box of Commonwealth and threw the remainder into the daily rotation pile.

Please share your opinions on how they compare.

Also, I have smoked and enjoyed Black Irish X rope and am considering grabbing some Black XX. Not sure how they differ and could use some input.

Thanks.

The only one out of the three that I’ve tried is the black XX, but it is very different from any other blend I’ve ever tried. Took me a few tries to decide whether I liked it or not. It’s very earthy, with a savory taste, because of the oil and stoving I guess. Kind of has charbroiled beef notes here and there.

I also go for the Skiff. In my opinion Lat Mixtures are not really SGs superpower compared to the Virginias, Skiff is the only one I really adore, and Squadron Leader from time to time. Commonwealth and Perfection are rather boring and one-dimensional to me.

I prefer the GH ropes to the SG's, I find them tastier. Commonwealth Mixture is monochromatic and big on Latakia but manages not to be a Lat. bomb for me. I haven't tried Skiff Mixture.

Commonwealth is a classic strong lat blend. It's a great simple blend with not a lot of complexity (just VA and lat) but a different flavor profile from Skiff

Rope has been made since 1792, probably earlier, the manner of its manufacture probably invariant the while. Certainly strong supporters of of tradition (they use centuries old equipment) , I find it highly unlikely that their ropes differ.
