Anyone watch it? I thought it was fine. It was cool revisiting old characters but the story was a mess but who cares..its a comedy..not a historical drama.
I haven't seen it. In future you'd probably be best to post things like this in the "What Are You Watching 2021" thread which is under the "General Discussion" sub heading.
That's the place where we discuss what we've been watching and leave a review with a score out of 5.

Haven't seen it, but heard some negative reviews. I figure it's something you'd go into looking for nostalgia and a laugh, not masterful filmmaking.

If you are an Eddie Murphy fan and enjoy the original "Coming To America", might I recommend:

Dolemite_is_My_Name_poster.jpg

A not-so-subtle, tongue-in-cheek revival of old school Blacksploitation films. It's got a tight story line with a lot of humor packed in and an absolute all star cast. 56 year-old Eddie Murphy at his best.

I found this film after seeing Eddie featured on Jerry Seinfeld's "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" and have been silently rooting for his return to stand up!

We watched it last night because of this post. I didn’t realize it was a sequel till then.
With all of the cameos, I’m pretty sure it was designed to just make forgotten rappers and hip hoppers a little pocket change before they die.
Eddie Murphy had some moments of genius when he was younger, but he doesn’t have the energy any more, IMO. Those old classic comedy movies of the 80’s just don’t stand the test of time, IMO. And, they just become awkward to try to rehash now.
It was pleasant enough to watch, but the laughs just weren’t there for me.

Haven’t watched the new one but rewatched the original earlier this week. It’s a damn near perfect comedy if there is one. Absolute classic. Everyone was on point, even the smaller side characters nailed it. Endlessly quotable. Great costumes/wardrobe. Just seems like they all had a blast doing the film.

I thought it was entertaining if you are looking for a light hearted movie that you don't have to pay a lot of attention to. Eddie Murphy was not the Eddie Murphy of old, that's for sure. I watched it on Prime so it was free. I wouldn't pay to watch it.

The movie industry is certainly trying to change the narrative for that POS. Its on some lists for top 10 worst movies ever made.

Lots of Eddie Murphy movies worth watching, that's not one of them . In fact think I am going to watch Trading Places tonight.
