College Smoking

Hey all, I'm frogdonovan. I've been a pipe smoker for about five years now. At my current stage in life, I'm going to college full time to get a degree in English Writing. Where I am right now, I don't smoke super often--I live in an apartment with no backyard or porch, and sometimes I find myself too lazy to go outside in one of our Montana April Snowstorms. When I do, however, my favorite tobaccos have always been McClellands, specifically Frog Morton, of which I have a preciously limited supply. Recently I've also been enjoying Comoy's Cask No. 7, as well as some of the Deadwood Cigars.

I joined this forum out of curiosity and to have some great conversation! In addition, I'm looking to conduct a bit of ethnographic research on pipe smokers for an anthropology project. If any of you have some advice for where I should post a thread on that topic, I'm looking forward to getting some of your experiences with pipe smoking!

Frog', are you working on a BFA or an MFA? Forums provides for doing polls, though you want to be skillful about using these sparingly, or people will get tired of being research subjects. Welcome from central North Carolina, or "hey," as we say here.

Welcome from Dallas, and someone with a couple of anthropology degrees (albeit biological and forensic)! An ethnography on pipe smokers would definitely be of interest to a lot of members here!

BTW, enjoy those last Frog tins. I just finished a tin of Cellar a while back. Haven't found anything all that comparable (GL Pease Odyssey does the stoved VA/latakia thing real well though), but the Frog wasn't my jam like it was for some people. I do wish I'd gotten more McC blends in N general before their closure, but that is life...

you're a weirdo. You kind of remind me of that one history teacher I got along with really well, no understood it. Until I pointed out he's so normal it's weird. You go far enough into any direction you end up weird.

Mine was powered by gallons and gallons of coffee and Camel Lights by the crate.
When asked, I like to convey that the dissertation process is like being flogged with wet noodles on a 100 mile long walk of shame while having to drag a pink feather boa.

There were copper pipes found in Egyptian tombs, but what they were smoking only God knows. Most of the first know pipe smokers were native Americans with the rustica varietal, herbs and again gods knows what. Modern tobacco as we know it came from Virginia tobacco grown in the original colonies by John Rofle. I'm prob wrong though so Welcome.
