Cold Beverages Burning!

I noticed this if bubbles are involved. But not under other circumstances.

I'm starting to think I may also be smoking a bit too hot, honestly. I don't get bite during the smoke, but the affect of beverages lead me to think I might be irritating my tongue without realizing it.

yes it's an effect of mild tongue burn. Or seems to be at least. Sip the pipe and don't touch the flame to the leaf hover it above the leaf. And if it gets hot wait a minute or two.
