I find new cobs generate a sour taste until broken in... which can take several smokes. I'm breaking in a Southport Ferryman and thinking of trying the Bing Crosby method.

As far as I can tell the cobs are the same price everywhere.
Seven or eight bucks for a MM Legend seems pretty standard.
I wouldn't shop for a Savinelli on Amazon but I do buy my cob pipes there.
Free fast shipping.
Yeah. A legend cob starts at $20 Canadian on Amazon. I did buy a Savinelli on Amazon though through 4 noggins.

Many of the most experienced pipe smokers, with the most enviable collections, still smoke cobs sometimes.
If we always selected a pipe to smoke based on quality of smoke alone, we might smoke cobs far more often.

I usually smoke a briar, but if I'm honest, the times that I do grab a cob, the smokes seem disproportionately cool, dry, sweet, and open.

And the "Cobbits" are handsome ones.
