@mingc is right. The synth bits come off easy...too easy. If you clench and moisture gets under the bit it slides around. One can use this to an advantage. When the stem is wet slide the clean one back on. Id use water and not slaiva since you are trying to actually clean.

I used them for while and finally got used to acrylic stems. I dont tend to damage stems but some folks dental configuration plays hell with stems.

I assume these are the ones that come in a shiny silver package right? Just remove the air from the teat, roll the softie down the full length of your stem, your partner can assist you in this part. Trim the teat and then light your pipe! After several bowls of John Cottons Smegma Mixture it is considered wise to scrape and wash the ridges on the end of the pipe to prevent Fumunda cheese build up! rotf
