Cleaning your rubbers?

Tried to do a forum search for this but I didn't find one, I'm sure this silly question has been asked before. I recently started trying to get use to soft bits due to clenching to hard if I'm working in the yard or driving.

If you use them how often do you take them off the pipe and totally clean them?
They not the easiest things to get off and back on so I just been giving them an alchol rub down on the pipe every couple smokes.
Just wondering what everyone's Maintenance ritual is with them?

I concur! I consider myself pretty frugal, reusing pipe cleaners and such, but i have my limits... :P

You can never underestimate how thrifty some people are willing to be.

Just use a new one. If you reuse them they're not totally effective.

I never have used them much, maybe a time or two.

I read a story once of a tobacconist of ill repute. If you went there, they just had some rubbers in a bucket of water, and you just grabbed one and went to town, so to speak.

In reality, I use soft bits often. I don't clean mine and they last a long time. If you feel you need to clean them every few weeks or so, they are rubber. Warm soapy water and let them dry. Or just replace them.

Okay fine, I'll say it: Putting a rubber bit on your stem is a sin. Not enough to go to Hell over, but you need to rotate a tiny of your favorite blend and say "Hail Goodyear" fifty times to atone.

I use soft bits on some of my high end pipes but I remove them when I am finished smoking.
I clean them with a little soap and water.

On a more serious note :
The silicon ones are easier to use and remove.
I have separate ones for each pipe and remove after each smoke.
Just give them a quick wipe
Cheap enough to throw away if they look scungy

They come in a couple of sizes and in black or “clear”
They are available in bulk - 50 or 100

I try the softy bits every now and then. Bought a whole stash because I hate seeing the tooth chatter. I keep thinking that maybe when I use them this time it will be different. I’ve tried different sizes and with different pipes to no avail. I Just can’t get comfortable with them.

I guess I just enjoy barebacking it too much .
