Bought this at a local auction 25$. I thought the case was very interesting!
Stem tag -Goedewaagen’s pijp
Stem-Gouda Holland
No markings on the wood case
Did a little research on the company and Amsterdam pipe museum site
I thinking pipe 1950 ish ?
The case 1880 -1910 ?
Any input would be appreciated View attachment 357244View attachment 357245View attachment 357247View attachment 357249
@Pirate55 Nice pipe and great wooden case; I'd love them! MacBaren Vanilla Flake looks and sounds a good baccy choice for a clay pipe as well.

OK. Your wish is my accommodation. Check out the thread at about 6 AM and I'll post a few pictures before taking my coffee!
I didn't know clays had cases, let alone that it was common. I always figured they were seen as too disposable to have cases
That’s what’s so interesting
You got the bucks you could buy nice accessories

Sorry about my delay in posting. This one is made of boxwood circa 1860s/1870s. Note the unusual method of securing the case closed, along with the way the foot of the 'cutty' projects out of the hole. The hinges are rather crude and look as if they have been repurposed from something else completely unrelated. It is a fun, sturdy pipe case that has protected an ancient pipe for well over a century and is still being smoked by yours truly to this day!
