Does anybody know what happened to Clark Layton this year? He seams to have fallen of the face of the earth. His website is closed and he hasn't posted anything on Facebook since 2022. I don't know if he stopped making pipes and returned to his previous job. I really do think he is one of the better US artisan pipe makers.

I talked to him a fair bit from '14 or so until he started having second thoughts about continuing with carving. The last I heard he made the decision to do other things with his life for reasons not related TO carving.

I loved his slow-burn sense of ironic humor and stand-up approach to dealing with the world in general.

Both he and his work will be missed.

Thanks for the update, George. Sad to see guys with that much skill hang it up but pipes aren't the most important thing. Hopegully he's well and that his path circles back to doing some carving in the future, whether near or far.
