Cigar Tupperdore

I've been finding my self purchasing cigars these days when visiting pipe shops and club meetings. I have too much tinned tobacco already, but I always want to make a purchase. I've been running them to my son-in-law's humidor, which is a hassle. I researched smaller, budget humidors and found that the glass or plastic "Tupperdore" was recommended as an alternative to cheaper humidors.

I bought this one, which seems like it will hold my small inventory, along with some Boveda 69% humidity packs.

It is thicker and made better than the fist one I posted... but the other ones are fine. You might actually want them to breath just a little and the first ones I posted do breathe a little more.

I know this because I have to change the Boveda packs more often... about once a year. You'll know it's time when they get hard.



**** All this depends on the relative humidity where you live.

Down in the swamp you probably don't have to worry much about cigars drying out. I'm a little north and I sometimes have the other problem of too much humidity.****

Whatever you use, you don't want a tight seal. Cigar storage needs to breathe a bit to avoid mold. The best thing I've used is a small igloo cooler.

With Christmas upon us, you can check Marshall's or TJMAXX; they frequently have small cheap humidors in the gift section in the men's depts.

I just use a Tupperware container like @Richmond B. Funkenhouser.

Inside I have parts of cugar boxes from local cigar store. Actually it was from Liquor Barn. Some places will just give you some empty boxes or sell them cheap. Added a home Depot humidity gage and Boveda 65%.

Every so often I crack it open and fan some air in with the lid to refresh it. Like @hoosierpipeguy said, you want some airflow.

I have used these or about 2 or 3 years and have not had any problems.

I have some beautiful humidors on display but my cigars live in 70qt. coolidors. I can be away for months at a time and even in the desert return to find them in perfect condition.
