Have to revive this thread. From the pictures above the shop that says J. Mierjovsky was from Manhattan around 1915 give or take a few years. Joseph Mirejovsky was my maternal Great Great Grandfather and was a master pipe maker at the turn of the century. There is a publication in colliers from 1916 where is was stated that Joseph was the last master meerschaum carver left in NYC at the time. Thanks to whoever found this photo, now if I can just find a few of his caught ofter pipes...

I have my own cigar store indian. I carved him a few years ago for the Tobacco Emporium (gun shop and tobacco store) in my little 1/24 scale train layout.

He is kind of ugly, but a lot of them were. And, this was my first attempt at carving a 'person'.
