I still want to buy one myself....nice pics guys !!

It's the cleaning of the stem that worries me the most. But, then again, they sell long pipe cleaners. Looks like I'm running out of excuses to buy one.

Love a churchwarden for just relaxing and smoking around the house. I only have one but it is a good smoker.

Here are three examples from my collection. Top a tiny Colette billiard that came to me without a stem. Middle a Savanilli that I have had for about 40 years and bottom. A Large bowled Town Crier.

Uncle Arthur can make some real great wardens. He made me an all wooden (with acrylic bit) ranger pipe (like MacQueens) to my own custom preferences. It is wonderful and I got it MUCH faster than the other routes.

I don't smoke my one CW much.It an old Linkmans 02A Grabow Deluxe. Been working on making a stand for it from some spalted maple and part of an antler rack.

I've got a Peterson racing green colored churchwarden, I was recently like you and hadn't smoked one. I probably looked at 200 different churchwardens before i decided on one. I bought mine at cupofjoes.com. They have good prices and quick shipping. The peterson is very light and does not have a large bowl but draws very nice and smooth. I have 2 petersons and love them both, plus not a lot of green pipes out there!

I have a pipe that I call a 'minichurchwarden', as the the manufacturer's website named it 'long-stemmed' and it isn't a proper churchwarden!

Nevertheless, I enjoy it, it is delicate, cool-smoking, and it can make a perfect indoor pipe!

I don't know about you, but I'm neither comfortable with smoking such a pipe out, liable to indiscreet gazes, nor willing to risk damaging a long-stemmed hence more vulnerable pipe.

You should add one to your collection, though, if you will!

I agree with smoking it slower than the usual puffer-pipe, and the bowl is indeed smaller than the average...

Cheers!

Jay, that photo isn't loading for me. Did you leave it on your hard drive instead of uploading to photobucket?
