I'm working up in NJ this week, and that just happened to coincide with the Christopher Morley Pipe club meeting, in downtown Philadelphia. I met up with Dan and Les and a few of the regulars at a bar in Philly for a quick beer (hey, no Yuenglings??? WTH?).
The meeting is held at the Pen & Pencil Club, in an alley, a speakeasy of sorts that Les tells me had a pretty after-hours reputation in the past. We didn't create any trouble, and other than Holts, I think the only other place you can smoke indoors in the city? I used to get to this meeting once or twice year, but haven't been up for five or so years, so this was a treat.

The P&P 15th & Locust near Latimer’s. Deli. Nothing beats Center City Philadelphia. Walk over to Walnut and grab a nice cigar. Enjoy Rittenhaus Square. Duck into an Irish Pub for a Guinness Most diverse food choices anywhere. I spent most of my life right there. Small town feel, Philadelphia.

Give me a heads up next time you’re in town!

Al, it was great kicking back with you again! My wife and I went on our first date at that restaurant in 1989. It was 16th St. Bar and Grill back then, but looked exactly the same except that at that time it had the best jukebox in the city, hands down. And you could smoke at the bar.
