Walgreens is shuffling in some Christmas items at one end of the Halloween aisle. Physical size is a dominant gift consideration, since most of our gift list is older people who don't want any more stuff to burden their lives. Earrings and cufflinks score well, although not many wear cufflinks these days, don't have the shirts for them, nor the occasions. I bought my brother-in-law a military compass last year, his being a veteran of the Dutch army. Subscriptions work, since they can be recycled.

I am well in advance of you lot.

Since my wife resolutely refuses to pander to my tastes - ie wine, pipes or tobacco,
I have to buy birthday and Xmas presents (the ones I like) for myself.

I have now gifted myself presents well into the next decade.

PS I'm NOT a believer in delayed gratification, so I am enjoying the largesse of my own generosity now.
