I think you got a good deal. The Christmas Cheer is made with very top notch Virginia tobaccos, and anything over 10 years old has got the age factor going for it. I would pay that much for some. I normally buy a tin or two of Christmas Cheer every year, and let it age a couple years before I open it. Just finished some CC 2008, was really good.

Totally a fair price, I've seen some later ones sell for more than that, plus if I were to buy the 2013 at my local b&m it would be 65$

Thank you all for the input. I feel better. It was a face to face deal up here in WA, where our b&m charges 22.50 for new 50g tins of mcclelland. Nonetheless I wanted to run this by you all. The guyhad other tins and wanted $35 ea, but I just didn't think them worth it.

35 bucks may be a tad higher than usual (though lower than some sales of this vintage), but that works out to about 18 dollars per 50g for a 12-year old tobacco.
Just for comparison, a magnum (double bottle) of a high-quality 10-year old Bordeaux or Burgundy would cost several times that. And that will only amount to a few days enjoyment (at most). With aged VAs, I always look for a good price, but even "overpaying" is worth it in my book.
