One of the bummers about moving to a new place and not knowing a ton of people is not having friends to eat with. Chinese food especially, I think, goes well with a group because it's best eaten family style. I know there has to be a ton of great Chinese restaurants here in San Diego, but I just haven't tried many because it's kind of a bummer just ordering one thing at a time... Sounds like a great time, Oz!

You’re absolutely right - you need a few others to justice to the menu 😁

I had b’fast with a friend this morning to plan a foodie trip to Malaysia. Usually we travel with another mate, but he can’t join us as he has some health problems to sort out.
We were bemoaning only having the two of us as this will greatly limit the number of dishes we can order on our trip 🙄

I've heard Malaysia and Singapore are foodie heaven. I've only had a limited amount of Malaysian food, but enjoyed it quite a bit.

Hopefully it will turn out to be true, when we visit later this year.
It will be my first trip there since Covid, so fingers crossed my favourite eateries have survived.

One sad fact from previous trips is that the children are not taking over from their parents or are not as committed to keeping up the standards, so food quality has slipped in many cases.

Singapore has a lot of Michelin starred restaurants, but one is well advised to stay away from them, if on a budget.
Lots of very good street (hawker) food.

I’ll try to comply in future posts.
Unfortunately Chinese food is more about taste, than presentation, unlike Japanese cuisine.
Often exquisite tasting dishes appear like a dog’s dinner 😁

I love Chinese food and it doesn't have to be presented as fine dining to be appreciated, but it can be. Check out my Chinese Food Porn post with the Dongpo Rou (Chinese Red-Cooked Pork Belly).
