A bit later, the Paulson pipe seeing it's first smoke.
Holy crap...a 12 year old carved that...and it's his first pipe?
Looks like he learned well and quickly.

The Lars Ivarsson pipe donated by his daughter, Nanna, went for $23,000 at silent auction.

My friend Brad showing his wares. He's been making pipes for about a year. He was very uneasy about showing his pipes to people, but got some great feedback. (Brad is the guy in the plaid shirt)

Brad's first 'sold' pipe, to a happy customer.

The pipes Brad made for me as a gift for taking him to the pipe show. The left one is a briar billiard he freehanded, ebonite cumberland stem. The middle one is a cherrywood, made from a tree in his yard that fell. The right one is a white oak that fell in his yard, also has a churchwarden stem. (not pictures is a brother to the cherrywood, in a volcano shape)

Question: SPC Plum Pudding won the Chicago Bowl award for English flakes. Does anyone know what the other two blends were? I asked around, but no one knew.
It was a great show. I see that I met hoosierpipeguy without realizing it. We had a nice conversation.
When McClelland closed up I remarked that I would have liked to have tried Grey Havens but never got around to it. By serendipity, Iwan Ries still had a number of tins on Sunday, so I picked up a few. They also had a decent amount of Dunhill Dark Flake. I picked up some C&D and D&R blends I've been meaning to try or increase my stock of. Naturally, I also came back with a healthy amount of samples.
I bought an Alan Brothers pipe. They're very personable guys, they make beautiful pipes, and they do a very nice job with presentation.

SPC Plum Pudding won the Chicago Bowl. The other two blends were PS Luxury Navy Flake and Drunken Squire by C&D. The voting was very close.

Thanks, Winton. Is Drunken Squire a yet to be released blend? I don't see any mention of it on tobaccoreviews.com or C&D's website.

I had a wonderful show! Heath (Crappy Pipes) had a great 1st show as a vendor. I'm sure there's a few people who picked up Crappy Pipes floating around this place, :)
I'm already looking forward to next year.

Spartan, how do you like the Alan Bros pipe? I have one on its way to me currently. Should arrive Thursday.
