I've been playing the guitar for over 50 years and at one point owned a Chet Atkins Tennessean so I could play like him. I'm pretty good but never achieved his level. It's always pleasure to hear him play. Thanks for this.

May I recommend the duet albums of Mr. Atkins and Mr. Les Paul? "Chester and Lester" and the follow-up "Guitar Monsters" are delightful listening, and wonderful showcases for these masters, the likes of which will never again be seen.

Although I'm sure I will catch some flack, I must say I don't like most country music. Chet Atkins is one of the rare exceptions and it's always nice to hear him play. He's one of those musicians I wish I was able to see live. I'm now playing this at work, a good way to start the day.

Mark Knopfler is another one that blows me away...it seems on the border of miraculous what some musicians can do.
I was about to suggest the record that Chet and Knopfler did together. "Neck and Neck" is one of my favorite albums of all time. And if you are really into finger style then give Tommy Emmanuel a try.

Not a problem :) His version of "Windy and Warm" is pretty awesome, definitely worth a listen.

I love Chet Atkins. I also highly recommend the Knofpler & Atkins collaboration "Neck & Neck", an excellent album. You can sense they really seem to be having a grand time.

Mark Knopfler is my favorite guitar player of all, and I also recommend the "Neck and Neck" duet album he made with Chet Atkins.
In my opinion, Knopfler has magic fingers (he's a finger picker). We can hear one single note played by him, whether on an electric or an acoustic guitar, and know immediately that it is Mark Knopfler playing. Just something about the way his fingers make the strings resonate make it an unmistakably unique Knopfler sound.

Albert Lee is another great and his remake of Knopfler's "Settin' Me Up" just blows the top of my head off. But I'm really getting off topic now.

"The Nashville String Band" albums are some of my favorites of Chet Atkins. You'll really be surprised as to who the other members of the band were. One of the best renditions of "El Condor Pasa" I've ever heard is on the Album "The Nashville String Band - Strung Up."
All acoustic and really great picking. Not at all what you'd expect of Mr. Atkins or the other two members of the band.
