I'm note big on cherrys in general but I tried Boswell's Bear Blend on a whim a few months ago.
It wasn't what I was looking for but I didn't think it was all that bad.

Oh and BTW Lane is giving away free samples if you want to try one of their cherry blends.

Ghost I never got much of a real cherry taste myself, but I agree with you that it definitely requires its own pipe and it definitely needs a lot of drying time. It is a SOB to get lit...
I'm a firm believer that ALL blends belong in a pipe devoted to their own respective style.
Virginias belong with Virginias, Latakia with Latakia, Orientals with Orientals, Burleys with Burleys.
(Of course VA and burley are fairly neutral compared to their Cypriot/Syrian cousins and can be used to break in any pipe without much of a lasting ghost)
I just think that is the only way you can get a "true" flavour from a blend...
When it comes to aromatics or distinctively cased tobaccos, though, I think you have to get blend specific.
Peter Heinrichs Dark Strong Flake is a strongly cased VA with Kentucky and it will make any pipe smell strongly of black liquorice.
1792 will also render a pipe with a pretty potent tonquin ghost that will muddle the flavours of any other blend.
Aromatics, though, are pretty safe if you keep them segregated along flavour lines: cherry with cherry, vanilla with vanilla, chocolate with chocolate...
That's my philosophy anyway.

Gawith Hoggarth's Cherry & Vanilla is a great "natural" tasting aro. I stay away from most other cherry blends because they all seem to taste of chemicals to me...

Tried mac baren and captain black cherry, although MB tobacco is much higher quality, both of them are Unsmokeable. Moreover, the problem does not end there, but lasts much longer since what ever you smoke in the pipe will have this artificial cherry flavour that you can never get rid off unless you burn the pipe itself :)

I smoke a lot of Sam Gawith's Celtic Talisman, which has a light cherry topping. I enjoy it and it is wife approved.

Has anyone tried McClellends 3 cherry? I am interested in that one, it sounds good and gets good reviews at TR.
