I was not a fan of Middletons but I happen to like CAO Cherry Bomb. I'm really not into cherry blends, though, so YMMV bigtime.

I'm not big on cherry flavored tobaccos but one that I do like is Boswell's Pennsylvania Dutch Treat. It's a subtle, not so "in your face" cherry flavor. The very first pipe tobacco I ever smoked was Middleton's Cherry Blend and it nearly put me off the pipe forever. My brother-in-law had always smoked it and I loved the aroma so I figured it would be a favorite. My packing and smoking techniques were pretty poor back then and it fried my tongue. I switched to Carter Hall and refined my technique and discovered pipe smoking bliss.

I don't understand. How are all of these horrible Cherry tobacco blends still in business, or being sold? I've never heard anything good about 99% of cherry blends. How come they are still being sold?
I bought a 50g pouch the other day of Alsbö Cherry. Big mistake, horrible. I can't make myself throw it away either. It just sits there and taunts me.

Captain Black Cherry - 2oz Bag Unopened
Should stay that way. Trust me. I finally "fixed" the only bag I've ever bought by jarring it with several other baccys mixed in and sitting a couple months. But why go through that kind of trouble ? the best cherries I've had are:
Fader's Cherry Berry

Middleton

Palladin black Cherry

I have found that a 50/50 mix of a good Black cavendish with Lane's Very Cherry makes a nice blend. The cherry on it's own if a recipe for bite but the 50/50 with cavendish is good. If I am feeling especially bold...I will mix 2 oz very cherry with 2 oz Black Cavendish and 1 oz of a good vanilla. I think cherry tobacco is best when it is used to accent something else.

Just can't do cherry. Haven't found one that doesnt taste like medicine. Thought G&H would be ok but it is also a no go. And I do enjoy aro's, just not cherry stuff.

It wasn't supposed to. Hence the name "Black Cherry." :puffpipe:

I was reeled by the perplexing nature nature of this thread. Love.... hate.... love.... hate.... hate.... little bit of love.
Consequently I wasted $10 on a tin of CAO cherry bomb. My first bowl was right after opening the tin while still at the B&M. Getting through the bowl was an actual chore. It smells so great in the tin you can almost eat it.
I am told by the "hater in chief" that the room note does not smell of cherry. The bowl I am smoking now is out of a meer. It is not like work this time, but it is far from great. I absolutely cannot blow the smoke out of my nose like I do with most tobaccos. Getting the smoke in the nose is quite unpleasant.
I am going to let it air out some more, but I am writing this stuff off.
Oh yeah, and now that I am half way through the bowl the pipe is not gurgling.... it is boiling.

I like aromatics but I don't get the cherry thing. Why are there so many cherry blends? I've only ever tried Captain Black's in the form of a cigar and a colt as well and both give me a headache.

I think W.O Larsen Signature Vintage Mixture smells and tastes like a Cherry blend, much more so than the awful cased cherry blends I have had before. The Tobacco Reviews description says fruit/citrus, vanilla and carmel, but I swear it smells like the very first sniff I had of Middletons, and tastes much better and smoother.

Well I'm dying to try MacB's 7 Seas Red Blend. Hopefully that'll be in my stocking or under the tree Christmas morning as many hints have been dropped to the Mrs. about it. However, for the time being my favourite cherry blend would be MacBaren's Cherry Ambrosia. Great mix of cherry and Jamaica rum. As long as the "ready rub" is rubbed out totally the blend keeps the flavour consistantly and if sipped properly like an aromatic should be it is a great smoke with no bite.

There's rum in MB Cherry Ambrosia? I thought it was just Virginia, burley and cherry-flavored cavendish.
