Thanks for the codes! My wife heard something about that and was trying to figure out if the big twin pack we have is ok.

In our home the peanuts are purchased in bulk, batch roasted in the oven and whizzed up in the 'crazy blender'...I can't really take any credit for it though, I just eat the stuff.

It makes you wonder about all peanut butter, but we don't have any Jif in the house. I eat probably more than I should. Since childhood.

Yep, my wife threw away my peanut butter jar... I protested, because I had already eaten half of it and no salmonella. So, it just seemed like a waste. I went to go buy a new jar, and the shelves were empty. I'm pretty sure that this was just a trick to increase peanut butter sales. Now, I will have to go without till the sharks stop churning the waters at the grocers.

cosmicfolklore, actually that suspect peanut butter may have had Salmonella, but it could have withered on contact with iconoclasm and sardonic wit, just kind of went up in smoke, if you will, or maybe in smoke rings.

If we knew how often we are exposed to Salmonella, we would never buy packaged food, including chocolate.
I used to fill in for a microbiologist when I was an industrial chemist. This microbe is probably responsible for a high percentage of what is referred to ad "stomach virus".
