Beautiful collection! I paid 50 a piece for mine which I thought was pretty cheap compared to what I’ve seen others sell for
Only the bottom two are still in my collection. You can get good deals if you look hard enough. The $20 billiard was listed as a Dunhull and there were no opposing bids.?

Lol it’s funny that you mention that I have a brother who purposely misspells searches on certain market places to find the best deals ? but wow 20 dollars incredible

I think online retailers and pipe shops tend to charge high, whatever the market will bear (in general) and others may just want to unload what they see as clutter and can sell them as old pipes they don't want for almost nothing. People who don't know pipes don't see a difference between a Dunhill and a Yello-Bole and don't care to spend the time getting them appraised. So where ever you found these, you apparently got an excellent price and what should be good pipes. Congrats. Look at estate Dunhills online and you will feel better and better.

Thank you for your response, I think my surprise really came from the fact that I found these at a tobacconist in a basket of estate pipes for $50 a piece and they were in fact mixed in with all kinds of other pipes brands like you mentioned. I love to look at estate pipes lol so I’ll definitely put in some research but being I was far from home I figured it was worth the chance. Most tobacconist in my area don’t really seem to have many pipe smoking customers the two that I frequent still have dunhill tobacco in stock for example

Tom, that is most interesting that a tobacconist (never mind that they don't specialize in pipes so much) would throw Dunhill pipes in the basket pipes. Maybe they thought of it as a sort of pipe basket lottery, with the Dunhills as the prize. I'd guess they'd been kicking around the store and the owner just wanted some money out of them. I've watched the Dunhill estate prices just from curiosity and they often range in the two to six hundred dollar range and above. So you did fine.

Well I appreciate that

I agree it was most definitely an odd occurrence, once it was confirmed they were real it felt like I won a lottery. I have seen some estate dunhills behind glass in other shops and didn’t even ask to look at them just because of their pricing. Maybe I did win a great pipe lottery or maybe today there’s an ex junior tobacconist looking for work ?
