Natural! Even better. I've got a ugly as sin Savinelli natural billiard that I love.
Yours is much nicer.

I have been perfectly happy without the charring light so far, but after reading this thread, I feel inspired to take one step back to basics and enjoy a more even smoke.

I have always done a charring light followed by the traditional 'true light'. Not sure if I've ever tried it any other way.

Keep meaning to do a charring light, but for the life of me I can't actually see the benefit of it, so I never really bother.

I always char. And take my time. Smoking a pipe is all about chillin'. No hard puffing is needed to keep the tobacco lit. One or two chars will do.

Charring light and tamp has become part of SOP for me. I've always found the tobacco settles and burns better. Also while tamping I spread the ashes evenly. I feel that it is essential and a part of packing your bowl.
