The stem is the least of my worries. Actually I think it looks in fair condition, maybe it got stuck, but the last picture shows a decent alignment to the shank and I find no reason to suspect a repair.

Thank you Al, I too think this pipe looks pretty darn neat for $15,00 lousy bucks and I will make her shine like my closely shaven head in the full moonlight.

I was burning with anticipation; my awaited pipe arrived today

I'm not disappointed at all; it is a gorgeous small billiard ( 11,80 cm. long, bowlheight 3,80 cm. ) showing very decent cross grain that resembles the grain on some older Barling's make pipes I own.

The stem fit looks promising and I pray there's a S logo hidden under the oxidation.

It is in the freezer now; to give it a start.The mouthpiece got stuck in the stummel.

The mouthpiece was released from its captivity, but it was not like "loose got loose". It shows a stepped tenon .

So far so good.
