Hi guys,
I like to stick to the classic blends (or at least "classics to me" 3 Oaks, 3 Nuns, any Frog Morton, Dark Fired Kentucky, Gas Light, Union Square, etc.) and definitely not aromatics.
But I've been curious about what constitutes a "Navy" blend. Will somebody please characterize what that means, as a sea bearing U.S.Marine, I've got to know :)
Thanks!
Todd

Hey at least he didn't ask the question a second time in the same thread!

It's actually in the new forum etiquette that people may post the same questions without looking for older versions, but I think that in this instance, Atjurhs may have made a mistake. No worries, I have to ask my wife the same question over a dozen times before I remember what her reply was. :puffy:

Gah! Not Perique. Rum and Virginia, then anything else is extra - it is a very loosely defined genre.

I didn't take any malicious intent from it - you actually put some effort in to help. It was just funny and we all just rolled with it.

Yep, you guys are right, I should have searched first. I asked too early in the morning and without cup of coffee for my brain housing group to be function on all four cylinders.
But from the read of those posts, I think I will go with:
Navy Flake by Samuel Gawith, or Navy Cavendish by McClelland, or Capstan Gold or Blue Tin by McBarren
But I hate to buy three ~$50 without really knowing about the genre and only from reading reviews...

Absolutely not! We wouldn't have had nearly as much fun. :puffy:

unfortunately, that is the way of things. I have spent $300 on an order of totally untasted tobaccos in the past. Luckily, someone out there in the PM forum world will like it. Heck we even have people who claim to like Mixture 79.

+ one on the SG Navy Flake. Good stuff. Likewise, the Capstan cophoices are also delicious. But you will see just how different tobaccos that are called "Navy" Flake are when you compare the two companies' offerings.

It just so happened that my LTS had a tin of McBarren's Capstan Gold, and I snatched that up, good stuff!
