Peck, I'd like to see some pics of your cellar!
These shots were taken about a year ago. I think I had around 300lbs then. I am about double that now.

The shots here were taken around Sept of last year:

One and a bit pouches of Condor and 2 feet of 1970s black twist to hold me over until I visit the UK next week. A very kind forum member sent me some Tambolaka as a form of Red Cross parcel to hold me over so I think I will survive. Actually if anyone here wants anything OTHER than Condor on my trip to the UK I would be happy to pick it up for them. Just PM me.

I wish I had had the foresight to start cellaring back when I started smoking a pipe about 6 years or so ago.

I imagine my cellar would be quite impressive if I had, oh well!

I'm sad to say that I have been unable to convince Wifey as yet that stockpiling tobacco varieties will save her, our children, and her mangy cocker spaniel when the zombies attack.
I have about a dozen different tobaccos, but 4 ounces is probably the largest amount of any one kind.
If anyone has a nifty sales pitch that is sure to make sense to a woman, please share it!

Tell her any or all of the following:
1. Show her the powerpoint I will send you that shows there is a direct correlation between large tobacco cellars and penis growth - in fact, an average of about 1 inch in growth for each 100 lbs of cellared tobacco.
2. Tell her that you are socially conscious and are worried about the plight of tobacco farmers and would like to help them out.
3. Tell her you are having a mid-life crisis, much the same as your best friends. They are either buying motorcycles or are having a young hot blonde on the side, but all you want is to buy some tobacco.
If any of the above ideas fail, then try begging, pleading, crying, or pouting. Get bummed, sulk, stare off into space, talk about all the fun you're NOT having. And try to work in something about "the environment" and your responsibility to save the planet - chicks really dig that shit.
Yours faithfully,
Peck

Started last June. Almost a year in and up to 36 lbs and 247 cellared containers. Top shelf is Esoterica 8 oz bags. Next is current pipe rotation and open tobaccos. 3rd shelf is all tins. Bottom is jarred tobacco with dates and some more tins.
Oldest tin is 1997 Christmas Cheer. Favorite is probably the Escudo painted tin on the left.

@ peck:
#1: Would scare her off completely.

#2: She knows better.

#3: I already bought the Harley, and I'm partial to brunettes.
I think I'm just screwed. I'll try the sulky thing. Maybe....just maybe....

I never really paid much attention to the amount I have, but I’d roughly say about 3 to 4lbs. of assorted tobacco in jars and some tins and some of those tobacco’s I’ll more likely than not smoke again. Considering that I only smoke about 2 bowls a day, and sometimes 3 on rare occasions, I don’t really see the need for having more than I already do. Sorry, but I just can’t quite fathom this obsessive need to purchase and store 100, 200, 300 plus pounds of tobacco when in all reality you’ll never be able to smoke that much tobacco in a lifetime. I think I’ll manage with my meager three pounds or so quite comfortably, and if I run low I’ll simply purchase more. Pretty simple eh!

Hey phil, there is nothing wrong with your approach. There are folks who buy their wine when they want to drink it and there are others who like to cellar it, primarily for the aging factor but also the protection against price escalation. The same is true for tobacco. To each his own I say.

In 2005 tins were about 7 bucks now they are 10 to 12 .A pound of Rattarys was 35 now it is 65 .After they ban tobacco I assume a good cellar will pay off the homestead .Peck you really should get some Beringers founders reserve and some Fess Parker wines .
