And would not answer the question if people’s information would be put in a data base. Scary. What are they going to say next, if you don’t have the card you can’t buy groceries or gas?

Good. Hopefully it gets us to the other side of this mess faster. Is anyone stopping you from buying gas/groceries now? Seems like some Chicken-Little thinking to me, we already provide schools, employers, etc. with vaccination records. If a card helps us get to normal faster, awesome. Maybe you can use it to visit loved ones in the hospital, or avoid covid screening in airports, you know, pragmatic and useful ways.

Also, based off of similar threads over the last few weeks, this thread will be locked in no time.

I'm as private and uncomfortable with restriction of my liberties as the next man, but a vaccine card is nothing new. There are records of Dr. Joseph Warren writing certificates of Smallpox vaccination so people could walk the streets of Boston in the early 1770s.

I had to prove I had been vaccinated before I could live in the college dorms. So did my dad.

I had to prove I had been vaccinated before I could join the military, and they topped me off on several of them just for good measure.

I understand some of y'all's concerns, and I'm not trying to insult you, but this is not a new thing.

I believe what's new and concerning is the vaccine itself, not the card. It operates via mRNA mechanism, vs the deactivated/dead virii used in traditional vaccinations. Uncharted territory here - remember they explored this mechanism to develop a vaccine against the common cold for decades, but did not find it effective/safe enough and decided not to release to the public. Slather on the new regulations granting carte blanche immunity for the manufacturers and I can completely understand hesitation on lining up to be a guinea pig with no recourse should there be side effects or unintended consequences.

Actually, due to my wife's immune deficiency, she has long been advised not to use any vaccine based on deactivated virus. So, for her, a vaccine developed on a different basis would probably be safer.

There was work going on that was quite promising, but the funding got pulled a couple of years ago. Fortunately, the data was archived, which is part of the reason development could pick up and continue toward the practical goal of developing a vaccine as rapidly as is happening.

I remember vaccination cards from when I was a kid. I seem to recall something called Rocky Mountain fever and other stuff like that.

If you use any sort of digital device, you have no privacy. You gave that up in exchange for access and convenience. You are an account, a profit center. You can be replicated visually digitally at any time and appear on a digital record at any time at any place.

They've given you a number and taken way your name.

Oh, the humanity!

Part of the reason for the card is that it is a 2 shot series; so people have a reminder to go back in 3-4 weeks for the second shot.

That ship sailed many years ago. In my area you need a card to buy liquor. Oh, you also need one to operate a vee-HICKLE on government owned roads. I also need a card to hunt or ... fish. Then there's the card required in the US to get a job. Insurance cards for the hospital or doctor. ID cards for the BX. And ... we could go on and on and ...

You didn't mention REAL ID. You won't be able to board a plane without REAL ID. You're not really REAL without REAL ID.

Warren thanks for proving that sometimes we do need a curmudgeon to help keep things straight. You know I don't always agree with you but when I do it always seems like it's because you're stating the kind of plain facts that people forget about. This is a very poor attempt at thanking you for being yourself, sometimes you help my sanity.
