Would love to love ya', but your shapes really suck. I've been looking for years for one of either that had a shape that I could stomach, but so far have come up short. Think I'll end the effort. Makes life simpler, and will add days, in effect, to the remainder I have left on earth. Au revoir, you silly mofos.
What shapes are you into? Both, Castello & IMP make traditional shapes as most of their portfolio. Are you referring to the texture? Both, Castello & IMP tend to make larger pipes on avg. is it because they’re too large for your taste? That I understand, but they also make some smaller pipes. Many of the Italian offerings are larger that the traditional Group 3, which is kinda my sweet spot. ☕

I guess we have to agree to disagree. To my eye Castello makes some very conventional shapes. I have seen conventional shapes from various meerschaum pipe makers as well.

I don't buy the conventional Castellos myself but they are there.

One of you internet wizards will have to tell us what, specifically, you find unconventional, controversial, distasteful, and peculiar about the shapes of the pipes in this picture.

?‍♂️Okay. The rustication on the top two looks cheap when compared to Savinelli's Corallo di Mare carving, the stem on the dublin in the center's length throws off the pipe's proportions, and the pot and billiard on the bottom have an abrupt stop where the bowl begins to curve towards the bottom. It interrupts the over-all flow of the shape. The jutting chin of the pot contradicts the vertical back wall of the bowl and gives an unbalanced appearance. While there is some nice grain there, the aesthetics of each piece would stay my hand from buying any of them. YMMV

I love Italian Styling on pipes. They took the traditional shapes and did a little here and there to make many of the shapes look even cooler in my opinion. But again one person's poison is another person's meat, and you won't convince them otherwise.
