I bought several of the pistol type plastic shell cases with styrofoam inside to transport pipes. Works quite well. Amazon, around $15.

Early on I got an expensive leather pipe pouch, but ended up never using it. In particular trying to fit tobacco tins (even small ones) is difficult and the thing is still sort of open on one side even if rolled and tied. Now I am using a bag that is meant as a wash bag and is perfect for travel with 2-3 pipes and some tobacco..
