Carving A So So Briar

Yesterday I dedided to carve a pipe from a block of briar that was not good enough fot my taste.It was misplaced in a corner. What could do without wasting time?Symply making an unusual shape for me.Decided for something like a Danish pipe and started carving.This morning finished that.Still don't like the briar but the shape and stem aren't bad

I can see where you may not care for the grain orientation on this one, especially when compared to the other pipes you've shown us. But the rest of the thing, shape, flow, balance, and particularly the rim and shank with the the plateau left in place? rustication?, hella fine "wasted time"!

This a very nice pipe, I could see how you might not like the grain, but it was hardly a waste of time.
