Which one do you prefer? I have never had Chatham Manor though I have some on the way soon.

I prefer Carter Hall. Chatham Manor is fine on it's own, but I don't think it is a match to Carter Hall. I enjoy Carter Hall more because my palate seems to pick up the nutty goodness from the Burley more with it. I smoke many, many Match blends, but they are for blends that no longer exist. If the original is still around I will smoke the original.

To me, they are apples and oranges. I know that's not a popular opinion.

While their flavorings are in the same ballpark, I find the leaf and smoking experience much different. I've also put 'em both away for a tad- Carter Hall didn't change at all, Chatham Manor showed aging promise.

Carter Hall leaves a lovely ghost IMO, and I vastly prefer it. It's also incredibly resilient with whatever OTC preservative magic is in it.

I've never smoked Chatham Manor, so I have no frame of reference.

The one review I read gave CM an edge over CH, and I hold Russ' blends in high regard. Supposedly, there's is a Sutliff blend called Estate that was formerly CM... And as far as I can tell CM is still available.

I have plenty of CH available, and it works for me, so I'm not inclined to go purchase more tobacco just to see if one is marginally "better" than another...

Hmmm. I used to enjoy Carter Hall. I have had Chatham Manor and they’re both great. They’re not identical of course but I like them equally. I prefer the cut of Carter Hall but I give the flavor edge to Chatham Manor. — Enjoy em both!

Don’t think I’ll be trying CM… I got this tub of CH - and I have to tell you, this is perhaps the finest ash dump container I’ve ever had. Hell - it even tilted itself sideways… maybe it’s offended I use it as an ash dump?
