The chamber is on an insert, with a hole at the bottom. Same principle as a calabash or falcon. This comes from the Barling catalogue that Jesse shared with the forum.
Does the draft hole really exist mid way up the chamber, or is there something that reroutes the airway?

It's a shape name, like billiard or Lovat. They were quite popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. My guess is that it was named for Charles WarrenInteresting that it both shares its name and design with Savinelli.
It would suit your avatar nicely!I WANT one!
Charles Warren, what is the connection to him and the shape or pipes? I’d love to know more. It's a shape name, like billiard or Lovat. They were quite popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. My guess is that it was named for Charles Warren

Like I wrote, it’s just a guess, but look up General Sir Charles Warren. Given his achievements and the era in which he lived, he seems the most likely candidate to be so honored.Charles Warren, what is the connection to him and the shape or pipes? I’d love to know more.
I did look up the various orders he was awarded or recognized membership to. Quite impressive for the time and also interesting to reflect on given well, the times. One day there may be a shape named after you. In fact, we should try to make that happen. Lol.Like I wrote, it’s just a guess, but look up General Sir Charles Warren. The connection might be Warren’s shaft (yeah, I know…)
So far I haven’t been able to other Warrens of like stature. (again, yeah, I know…)
