I would recomend "The General" it's my favorite cob, runs about $8 each, and is size large. Great for aromatics, if you want a shorter smoke, fill it halfway. It has an amazing feel in the hands and mouth. Cobs have much larger airways than briars do, so you pack them a little tighter and they also don't have that "goopy" problem your other pipe does because of that. They will NEVER gurgle as long as you use a bent stem
I have found straight stemmed cobs have a smaller stem opening that does cause some gurgle with very very wet tobaccos. I would also recomend getting a cob with the Danish style stem/bit because they are much thicker and durable. I chewed through the regular bits sold on the cobs such as with The Country Gentleman and the Legend. Pipes that normally come with it are the General and the Diplomat (medium sized pipe). I would not recomend the Legend as it is size extra small. Cobs are extremely high quality, never gurgle, and are excellent for clenching since replacement stems/bits cost only 50 cents each. Aristocob.com sells extra stems with their pipes, so does Missouri Meerschaum on their website. That cheapie 10 pipe bag might be the way to go, just keep in mind many will come with large gaps betwen the bottom of the bowel and stem, so just fill up the differince with pipe mud (ashes from cigar + water, pipe ashes do not make good mud).
