Although as posted before Im more into burleys and va's, I do get a hankering for an aromatic on occasion. Years ago I smoked CBW for most of the time. I tried it lately again and I did not like it. For some reason it bites me bad, as does 1Q. Does anyone know of another tobacco close to CBW I could try. Maybe C/D or MacBarrensor another?

I haven't tried CBW, I've smoked the Gold so far, and I like it!

As an aromatic smoker -but still a new one! - the other one I've tried close to CB Gold is MAc Baren's 7 Seas Gold, and both bite a looooot!

I think Gold blends do that anyways, but if you say that CBW does it too, then it might be a CB thing!

Macbaren's 7 seas black is great stuff. Im not huge on aromatics anymore but I still like this stuff once in a while. It is very mellow with a great flavor.

I never thought 1Q was that similar to CBW. Maybe try RLP-6. Its a little fruitier, but worth a go.

GL Pease's Haddo's Delight is pretty close to what I remember Captain Black to be. Its been a while since I've tried CB though.

Bought my first pouch of Mcbarrens 7 seas Royal this morning since it was on sale at my local B&M. The jury is still out on this one but on the positive note there was no bite it smoked smooth and behaved nicely right to the end of the bowl. It has virginias and burlys in it and I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not. The taste was almost so mild that I couldn't taste anything until part way through the smoke. Going to give it a whirl on the way to the woodworking show tomorrow and see if it grows on me.

I like RLP-6 as well. I'm still on board with the Captain though. Always have some on hand. Good times.

Yes try this one
Bulk Tobacco: Lane Limited: RLP-6
Product Number: 005-006-0003
Blended with just the right proportion of Golden Virginia and Burleys, the basic blend of Toasted Cavendish tobaccos takes on a zesty dimension. A great all day smoke with hints of Vanilla and Chocolate.

Haven't had any of the OTC blends, but I've heard 7 Seas Regular Blend is a close blend to CBW. I can say that I love 7 Seas Regular Blend. Great American style aromatic. Good casing flavor of vanilla and coco matched with a great leaf combo and I love the blend because the leaf flavor tends to come to the forefront intermittenly throught the bowl.
