I've decided to address my PAD issues this week, and to that end, I've been hitting my local B&M's, looking for that perfect pipe. Amongst all the Petes and Brighams, Comoys and Charatans, Medicos and Grabows, I keep seeing these lovely blond little pipes, stamped simply with "Capri".

One of the B&M proprietors ventured a guess that they are maple, but I am hesitant to take his word on it, as he was also trying to convince me that Medico's are actually handmade Pete seconds. Any info on this maker? Anyone smoke one?

The only Capri pipes I am familiar with are a discontinued line from Sav. They were a very nice rusticated pipe that was just too expensive to produce. As for Medico being Pete seconds. BULLSPIT!

Yeah, they are definitely not the Sav or Aldo Velani Capri pipes, literally, the only defining mark on them is a stamp that reads simply "Capri". They seem to be about the same pricing as Medico's, ranging from $35 - $55. They fit a Medico 6mm filter, and offer a variety of shapes, but all smooth finishes.

I am planning to feed my PAD this evening, or tomorrow at the lastest, so I will attempt to get pics of one of these Capri pipes.
Don't forget, they are also all hand-carved!

Yes I agree..Capris were a mid-grade Savinelli AND a name for ladies slacks made popular in I think the 50s or 60s....by the way I never knew a Savinelli that didn't smoke great

I have a capri myself ,it kind of resembles a danish look with a volcano style bowl. But then again, I may not be using the correct wording of description here.Either way, It smokes well and Im glad I bought it....

Greggors; I don't have any firm information, but this is what I was able to get out of the guy at one of my local B&M's (Westwood Mixer and Smokes, Poco).
-Majority of the pipes are rock-maple (same material used in Brigham filters), olive, or pear, not briar...he claims they are made by a major manufacturer, but wouldn't tell me who, nor would he let me peruse a catalogue (I plan to head to some more reputable shops this weekend to fulfill my PAD; see if I can't find out more along this line then)

-He calls them Canada's answer to Dr. Grabow; Canadian made, and only available in Canada, which would explain the lack of good firm information available
