Decided this belongs here rather than the new pipe smoker thread since it’s more of a review, I suppose. But mods I’ll understand if it gets moved.

Anyhow, after seeing glowing reviews online, and because if it’s on the internet it must be true, I decided to pick up Eileen’s Dream a few months back.

Straight out of the tin, it smelled fine but tasted terrible. As in, I could taste the tin itself with every puff.

Jarred it for about a month and then gave it another go. Still metallic, and while I only smoke outside, company could barely pick up on the aroma.

Did I get a bad batch? Does it need to sit in the jar longer still (the rest has been shelved since July)? Am I missing something?

It's one of only three blends I've ever had that induced a verbal complaint from wifey. Not only that, but it left a very unpleasant aftertaste and smell that lingered far too long. Ended up giving away the rest of that tin and another sealed one. There are so many tobacco blends nowadays, there's no sense in forcing a square peg into a round hole.

The only CAO blend I've actually enjoyed was Moontrance, and even then, there's a time and a place.

I tried Eileens Dream, Moontrance, and one other......I dont care for any of them. I like aromatics and these sounded like they would be great.
I dont know exactly how to explain it, but they were all perfumy, or maybe floral. They all left a bad taste in my mouth, both literally and figuratively.
They have been jarred sinse April. I will try them again in the Spring. If they are still bad, which from experience, they will be....I'll give them away or toss them.
Oddly enough ive really liked the few CAO cigars ive tried years ago. Except the rectangular pressed one. It tasted fine, but sucking on a Lego wasn't very pleasant.

Yeah he's big on that one, Maltese Falcon, and EMP if I recall correctly. Also liked Drew Estate Central Park Stroll, which really piqued my curiosity in them, although that was right around the time they folded. But I did find two cellar favorites in Grand Central and Gatsby Luxury Flake, so I'm thankful to him for that.

I like EMP, and i think I’ll like Maltese Falcon more with age, was a 5/10 for me out of the tin though.

Glad to see I’m not alone with Eileen’s Dream. Sounds like I’ll need to give moontrance a try.

At least when we encounter a blend that just doesn’t work it’s not terribly painful to toss it or gift it to someone else.

Life’s too short to smoke a blend you don’t like, no matter how much other people might like it.
