I feel greatly informed having learned from posts in a previous year about how cane is planted; cane stalks are laid down longwise in a row and the new stalks sprout from them. I'm glad the new harvest is in.

At the rate my wife uses sugar in baking, the cane harvest and sugar prices bear watching.

"...you couldn't pay me to be within ten miles of a sugar refinery"

Years ago I used to drive past a sugar beet refinery in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk and you could smell that place miles away.

Regards,

Jay.

pappymac, yipes, what else do they use to make rum? I'm not much of a rum drinker, or drinker at all, but I thought cane was it.
