It is a matter of taste. I could not smoke the same pipe for the whole day, because I feel it looses taste after the second smoke. I carry a bag for 4 pipes, if I leave for a few days, so I can smoke up to 8 pipes at a given day, but mostly this is not possible anyways, as you cannot smoke in many places anymore. I have pipes, which are 30 years in my possession, which show no signs of becoming sour, so why stress them. I know smokers, who do rotate a few pipes only and they have exchange them every few years, but it is not that easy to find great smoking pipes, so I'd rather keep what I have in good shape.

As long as I'm smoking the same tobacco all day, I smoke the same pipe. (I dedicate my pipes to specific blends/blend types.) I typically smoke 3-4 bowls a day, but I don't always stick with the same blend.
I used to work at a tobacco shop with a guy who smoked the same Dunhill all day, every day. It was his only pipe, and he typically smoked 10-12 bowls a day in it, every single day. As far as I know, it's still going.
Or maybe I should say, "It's still going strong." I'm guessing it could use a good cleaning about now!

Personally, I don't. I smoke one bowl in a given pipe, then let that pipe rest for at least a day. If your rotation is big enough to allow that, then that's what I would suggest you do. If not, then I'd suggest you invest in a couple of cobs (which can be smoked all day as long as you let them dry a little between smokes), as a cheap way to build your rotation. If you're not into cobs, look for a decent quality meerschaum pipe. Meers can be smoked all day, with basically the same treatment you'd give a cob.

I can, and I do. Works better with some sort of system pipe, I think. Peterson or Falcon if you like briar. Maybe my tastebuds aren't the most sophisticated from smoking 10 bowls a day out the same pipe day in day out, but I don't taste a big enough difference in a rested pipe to bother...so I don't rest. If my pipe breaks, I'll replace it.

Gourd calabashes, I have found, can tolerate almost continuous smoking. Great pipes for the guy without a large rotation,

and the neophyte who would benefit from the cooling and drying effect of the chamber and long stem.

I tend to one pipe per day. I then give that pipe a rest for a couple of days.
