I have a few pipes that I am selling. One is a Hardcastle special selection 7, the others are unknown. One is briar and says made in England. What can you tell me about these pipes? The Hardcastle 7 I am really struggling to find out about.

"There's an old Britwood mania going on now..." And so there should be, let's hear it for British pipes :worship:
Not that I'm biased or anything

Jay.
PS: I'm rather taken by that bulldog.

For years, Iwan Ries had a page of new Hardcastles online for $40 each, with little copper-tone shank caps. I was always tempted, especially by the Dublin, but I never took the plunge. Finally, that selection disappeared from the web site altogether, though some of those may still linger in the vast IR inventory if you asked. I suspect they had been around at least since the '90's, maybe much longer, or might have been part of an older inventory still.

UPDATE: Well as it turned out I won both the billiard and the bulldog. Problem is I was sent the bulldog and the hideous 'carved' bent Peterson knock off and not the billiard!!!
Have e-mailed matey asking where my billiard is but as yet no answer :|
As regards the Hardcastle's bulldog, it was pretty filthy and not very well described condition-wise. There was a very deep tooth dent on top of the stem which upon cleaning did actually pierce the vulcanite albeit with only a pinhole. After much fiddling about with black CA glue & charcoal powder it fixed up pretty well. In fact it is really quite a good smoker despite its 'lowly origins' which pretty much confirms my belief that a cheap pipe can indeed smoke just as well as an 'expensive name' pipe. Have enjoyed 5 bowls in the pipe since restoring it so am pretty pleased though I would still like to have the billiard to work on
A couple of pictures below....

Jay.
