Hello,

New pipe smoker here. I'm yet to break in my first briar pipe and i'm ready to get going. But, there's just one question I need clarification on.

I often use a tealight incense burner to burn agarwood chips which impart a nice smell into the room. There's no smoke as the chips never come into contact with the flame and are burnt indirectly.

My question is, could the smells that permeate the room enter into my pipe which is resting, and cause the smells from the agarwood to be imparted into the cake of my pipe?

A bit of an odd question, but thought I'd get it clarified as don't want to mess up my pipe.

Thanks!

My local B&M owner is from India. He often has incense going inside his fairly large square foot store. I will say, I have bought a few pipes and supplies that were in glass cases from him. The pipes did have a slight incense smell and taste to them before I smoked them but after the first smoke, it was gone. Now, the pipe cleaners are saturated with the smell. Using those pipe cleaners did not transfer any odd flavors or smells to the pipe.

By that logic hamburgers, sweaty socks and dog farts could ghost your pipe.
I'd say that unless you burn incense in your pipe it won't ghost it in any detectable way.

I seem to recall a post not long ago about scented candles ghosting someone's pipes, he was not stoked about it to say the least, no pun intended I'm a skater as well as a smoker...;)
