Las Vegas, NV
I live in Las Vegas and once left a pouch of Captain Black in the car for four weeks in August (when its around 110F) and by the time I checked on it the tobacco was at prime smoking moisture. Didn't think CB could ever dry out, but in the desert in a car it can quite easily.

My concern with the pipes would be the stems. Depending on the material, they could get soft and lose shape.
Good point.

We've seen issues with anything glued going between hot climates. Usually things going north are fine, but Florida to Texas or South America, for instance, can be an issue. Also, occasionally you will see some issues with stem fit after a particularly hot trip. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen and it's always hot humid climate-to-hot humid climate combined with longer-than-average shipping times (ex. over a long weekend, like 4th of July).
Thank you for this information. I have seen similar things, but never expressed it so clearly. I never thought about stem fit but I can see how this would be a problem. I have had CDs arrive with melted cases, usually from a similar shipment (South Florida to Austin, TX).
Anyone else here ever have your favorite cassette tape ruined by the heat, back-in-the-day?
I melted a full rack of them. One of those 80s style plastic trays full of cassettes. I found out the hard way that my windshield acted somewhat as a focal point, channeling concentrated sunlight right on the armrest where I kept the tapes. RIP AC/DC, Slayer, Iron Maiden and a few other good ones.

Hot car? Sounds like Grand Theft Auto. No, we're talking temperature here. Sorry.
