A nice 1939. It's a Keeper!
Does anyone use olive oil on their smooth briars to clean up/shine the briar? I do this with my Smoothies and they clean up very nicely. Anyone see any problem with using olive oil on the outside of the briar?

I will comment sparingly. Use very little, wipe on, wipe off. Use too much, it will bleed from the briar as it heats when smoked. Use basic style of oil, Light Pure for example, not First Cold Pressed Extra Virgin, you don't want it's strong flavors in the wood; not to mention it's a waste of money.

Olive oil will go rancid in time. Try using mineral oil. Apply sparingly and wipe off after a minute. It will do a fine job. I use mineral oil that I bought from the drug store. Keep the pipe! You'll probably end up regretting selling the pipe in time, otherwise. :sher:
