Skip at The Briary told me that they will be getting a new bulk blend in from McClelland soon that is replacing 5100. But, by all means,.. panic, panic, yes. Feel the panic flowing through you. Buy, buy, spend,... Muah ha ha!!!
Well, I guess 19th century is recent in the vast sweep of history.... But I also think there's a difference between art for art's sake, and an individual's personal motivation and urge to create art as a mode of self-expression. Not saying it will always be good art....The idea of "art for art's sake" is a fairly recent development. In the past, artists were very much businessmen, seeking out commissions, having a shop with assistants to handle the work flow, being members of guilds to help build business connections, or working essentially as servants in wealthy households.
That's just insane. I would hate to live inside the heads of people who write tax laws, insurance rules, and FDA regs. I can't even fathom how their minds work. By this way of thinking, in theory no blend remians "the same" over time because they don't use the same crops of tobaccos every year. :?The issue is that each edition is unique and each edition is a vintage composed from a different single crop (yes, red Virginia, but not THE SAME red Virginia), so under the benighted FDA rules these don't qualify as being in continuous production since prior to 2/15/07, and so don't get grandfathered in.
Only a few blends are "vintage" types of single crop blends. That puts them in a different category from the vast majority of blends on the market. Many of these other blends are made from crops grown over several years which helps keep the flavor of that blend consistent over time.By this way of thinking, in theory no blend remians "the same" over time because they don't use the same crops of tobaccos every year. :?
Yep. I've been a professional artist for close to 50 years. Some of it has been passionate joy, and some of it has been just a job.Well, I guess 19th century is recent in the vast sweep of history....
